Maine Governor Janet Mills joining the 2026 Senate contest to unseat Republican Susan Collins would give Democratic primary voters at least two distinctive candidates to consider in a race critical to their uphill bid to win a majority.
Mills, who’s set to announce her candidacy as soon as next week, is a seasoned politician who’s finishing up two terms as governor and previously served as state attorney general and in Maine’s House of Representatives.
