Moderates Stall GOP Bill to Cut Health Funding, Block Abortions

House Republicans postponed a vote on their Labor-HHS-Education spending bill Wednesday, the fourth time they’ve failed to secure enough support for a government-funding measure this year.

Leaders put off the vote amid skepticism from conservative and moderate Republicans. The bill (H.R. 5894; BGOV Bill Summary) would cut billions in funding for domestic agencies. Conservatives succeeded in adding more spending cuts, including to the National Institutes of Health, via amendments on the floor.
