Nevada voted in favor of an amendment to enshrine abortion rights,the Associated Press said Wednesday, a measure that voters will have to back again in 2026 to officially amend the state constitution.
The measure (Question 6) would establish a “fundamental right to abortion” until fetal viability, or roughly 24 weeks or pregnancy, and afterward as needed to “protect the life or health of the pregnant patient.” Nevada’s constitution requires citizen-initiated ballot measures to be approved by voters in two consecutive elections to amend the constitution.
