New Yorker Stefanik to Lead House’s Bipartisan Sept. 11 Review

New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik will helm a bipartisan review of the now-decades-old report that examined the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, she announced Thursday as the country marked their 24th anniversary.

The original report on the attacks, released three years later in 2004 by the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, identified multiple intelligence failures ahead of Sept. 11, and led to a major overhaul of the nation’s intelligence agencies. Stefanik said the new review will “identify possible gaps or areas of improvement” from the initial probe.
