The soon-to-be ex-Homeland Security head’s axing was announced on social media Thursday, making her the first cabinet secretary discarded this term — beating out some stiff competition. It happened after she defended a $240 million ad campaign featuring (who else?) her by saying President Trump OK’d it.

The president was “not a happy cowboy,” said Sen. John Kennedy, who asked about the ads at a hearing Tuesday. Kennedy knew then she was “as dead as fried chicken.” ...
