Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded an agreement by the Space Development Agency to design and build 38 data transport satellites, according to a Monday news release.
The agreement, which has a total potential value of around $732 million, involves satellites that will support Tranche 2 Transport Layer – Alpha, the latest iteration of SDA’s low-Earth orbit Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, Northrop Grumman said.
The agreement involves supporting ground elements and five years of operations and sustainment, according to Northrop Grumman. The satellites are scheduled to launch starting December 2026.
