New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is eyeing nuclear power to help the Empire State reach its climate goals following reports that her administration has fallen behind in eliminating fossil fuels from supplying energy to the state power grid.
Renewed interest by the Democratic governor in atomic technology comes as the federal government has made at least $2.7 billion available for states with the help of legislation (S. 870) signed by President Joe Biden (D) in July meant to to boost the nuclear sector and speed up permitting.
