NY Draft Rules on Child Social Media Algorithms Slated for Fall

New York State Attorney General Letitia James plans to release draft regulations by this fall to put in place last year’s first-in-nation law restricting algorithms in social media feeds for underage users.

That pace, exclusively confirmed to Bloomberg Government by the Democrat’s office, would allow the SAFE for Kids Act (S.B. 7694A) to take full effect by June 2026. James’ office won’t pursue regulations for a companion child data protection act (S.B. 7695B) despite soliciting comments for both measures in August, according to her office.
