Tech industry groups want New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to block sweeping measures that would place restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence, health data, and social media.
The sector is lobbying the Democratic governor to veto bills backed by civil-rights advocates that cleared the state Legislature before it adjourned on June 17. The measures would require AI developers to develop safety plans (S.B. 6953B), subject businesses nationwide to restrictions on health data (S.B. 929), and mandate online platforms with “addictive” features (S.B. 4505) warn their users.
