Hochul Signs AI Curbs Bill Opposed by Tech Industry (1)

New York is the second state to restrict the most advanced artificial intelligence under legislation signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday.

AI developers will be liable for cyberattacks and other destructive events enabled by their systems under the legislation (A.B. 6453) that takes effect in January 2027. They also must develop safety plans and alert regulators about threatening incidents within 72 hours.
