NY Gov. Hochul’s Deputy Wants to Oust Her in 2026 With Tax Hikes

New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado sees a pathway to victory over Gov. Kathy Hochul in the June 2026 Democratic primary by calling for tax increases on the wealthy and corporations.

“There’s a real contrast between myself and the governor,” Delgado said in an interview with Bloomberg Government.

A coalition of progressive advocacy groups claim Delgado’s proposed tax hikes on the wealthy and companies could raise billions of dollars in additional revenue at a time the state faces a projected $34.5 billion budget gap over the next three years.
