NY Governor Pitches Funds for AI Project Amid Lawmaker Questions

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) wants the state legislature to approve $90 million in new funding for an AI supercomputer center in Buffalo even though the initial $275 million in state money to start the project remains unspent.

More than 200 researchers are participating in the Empire AI consortium as it prepares to add three private colleges to the project that Hochul has said will help make New York a center for tech innovation to compete with other states and countries.
