New York government employees are banned from using private government information to trade on popular prediction market platforms, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said Wednesday.
Hochul announced in an executive order that state employees are prohibited from using their access to non-public government information for personal financial gain. The move comes as New York officials seek new guardrails on the largely unregulated spread of prediction market platforms such as Kalshi.
It also comes as Kalshi on Wednesday disclosed it conducted three investigations into suspected insider trading incidents.
