Oil Drilling, Cap-and-Trade Package Pass California Legislature

A package of energy and climate-change measures designed to stabilize California’s power supply and control consumer prices passed the state legislature on Saturday.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and top Democrats billed the package as an effort to lower power bills and maintain the state’s fuel supply amid California’s high cost of living, where residents pay some of the nation’s highest gas and electricity rates.
