On Their Way: Four Dozen November Shoo-ins Bound for Congress

Meet the lucky ones: politicians who won primary elections in House and Senate contests with a lopsided one-party edge and now are in position for easy victories in the Nov. 5 general election.

The shoo-in nominees give their political parties a little breathing room as they spend the next two months focusing on the competitive seats that will determine control of the legislative agenda — and whether the next president starts out with a friendly or antagonistic Congress.

They include 25 Republicans nominated to House seats, 17 Democratic House nominees, and three likely senators from each party.
