Palm Beach’s Wealthy Party On, Unruffled by the Tariff Shockwave (1)

Floridians are accustomed to waiting for fast-moving thunderstorms to pass. President Donald Trump’s supporters in Palm Beach are trying to decide whether the tempest over his tariffs is simply another squall.

Backers of the president on the wealthy South Florida island said it’s too soon to tell whether the “Liberation Day” tariffs, which were far more aggressive than many investors had been expecting, will turn out to be an audacious rebalancing of global economics — or just plain reckless.

Dozens of billionaires have homes in Palm Beach, where Trump’s Mar-a-Lago has become a sort of Sunshine State White House.
