Rep. Chris Pappas‘s decision to run for a Senate seat next year gives New Hampshire Democrats a top-flight candidate in a crucial race — but also leaves open a swing district for his party to defend.

“Granite Staters don’t flinch. We don’t give in. We fight. And together with the grit and determination that built this state, we will get our country back on track,” Pappas, who represents New Hampshire’s 1st District, said in a video Thursday of his campaign to succeed retiring Democratic Sen.
