Park Service Employees Among Planned Trump Interior Layoffs (2)

The Interior Department intended to lay off thousands of employees across the department beginning this week, including 272 within the National Park Service.

A court document filed Monday with a California federal court listed 2,050 employee positions working at 89 department areas as slated for reductions-in-force. The American Federation of Government Employees filed a lawsuit against the administration earlier this month because of the layoffs. AFGE represents many Interior employees, including those at the National Park Service.

Interior has paused RIF notices per the court’s Oct. 17 order directing the Trump administration to halt governmentwide layoffs related to the shutdown. ...
