The Department of Education will publish its proposed rule that would expand the Pell Grant to cover short-term workforce training programs on March 6, Undersecretary Nicholas Kent announced Thursday.
It follows the department’s meetings with experts and stakeholders to discuss how to implement the new Workforce Pell Grant program, a provision created by President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax-and-spending law. The new program is set to go into effect July 1.
