The Pentagon would have $839 billion for this fiscal year, including funds for President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome missile defense shield and next-generation fighter aircraft, under a compromise spending measure released Tuesday.
The negotiated spending levels by the House and Senate are about $8 billion above the Trump administration’s request for the Pentagon.
The defense spending measure is part of a larger package that the US House is expected to vote on this week. The bill doesn’t include military construction funding, which is part of the Defense Department’s budget but is under the jurisdiction of a different congressional panel.
