Groups representing physician assistants and education programs are suing the Education Department for its rule implementing caps on advanced degree programs imposed by the GOP’s 2025 tax-and-spending legislation.
The suit filed in US District Court for the District of Columbia argues that the department went beyond congressional intent by excluding students in physician assistant programs from accessing the loan amounts they need to afford their education. They’re seeking a preliminary injunction as the rule nears its July 1 effective date.
