Pipeline Safety Programs Face Slower Reauthorization in House

A key House committee aims to move legislation later this year to reauthorize the programs under the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration after the Senate approved a bipartisan measure Wednesday.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee is considering through regular order potential changes to draft legislation considered at a March 4 hearing ahead of potential votes by a subcommittee and the full committee, spokesperson Matt VanHyfte said. Committee Chair Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) wasn’t immediately available for comment.
