Bipartisan leaders of the House Armed Services panel are warning that the US all-volunteer military force is at risk because of an “alarming erosion” of troop quality of life that needs to be addressed swiftly.

Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) and the panel’s top Democrat, Adam Smith (Wash.) are pressing President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to focus more resources in the fiscal 2025 budget request to quality-of-life issues for members of the military and their families.
