Rep. Shreve to Replace Gonzales on House Appropriations Panel

April 20, 2026, 10:30 PM UTC

The House Steering Committee chose Rep. Jefferson Shreve (R-Ind.) to replace former Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) on the powerful Appropriations Committee Monday, according to a member on the Steering panel.

The role will give Shreve a say over government spending as the panel works to quickly advance funding bills for fiscal 2027.

Gonzales departed Congress last week after admitting to an affair with an aide who later died by suicide.
