Republican Energy Permitting, Grid, Coal Panel Bills Pass House

The House Thursday passed energy legislation that aims to boost both renewable energy and fossil fuel projects.

A Republican measure (H.R. 3062) designed to streamline permitting for pipelines and transmission lines that traverse the US Northern and Southern borders garnered Democratic support.

The House also approved two other Republican-led energy-related bills, one that would permanently re-establish the National Coal Council (H.R. 3015) and another (H.R. 1047) that would allow operators to prioritize “dispatchable” energy source projects in the approval queue to bolster the electric grid, ahead of sources like wind and solar power.
