Republican Governors Criticize Trump Push to Ban State AI Rules

Some prominent Republican governors are resisting a White House push to block state-level regulations on artificial intelligence, splitting the GOP camp over the right of states to place curbs on the emerging technology.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are among those criticizing the Trump administration effort to preempt state laws to put guardrails on AI systems to prevent possible harms.
