House Republicans’ Steering Committee selected chairmen for the high-profile Energy and Commerce and Foreign Affairs committees earlier this week. Tomorrow they’ll reconvene to decide competitive elections to lead panels including Financial Services. But after the one Republican woman seeking a contested gavel lost her battle, there’s virtually no path for a steering-selected committee chairwoman in the 119th Congress.
