House Republicans advanced a $78.3 billion measure that included a slew of conservative policy riders and would cut the budgets of key federal agencies as part of their agenda to reduce domestic spending.
The House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday approved spending for the Commerce, Justice, and Science agencies for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1. The vote was 31-26, along party lines. The bill includes $9.8 billion for the Commerce Department, a $979.7 million decrease from the current level.
