Top Republicans Defer to Trump on Iran Involvement

Top Senate Republicans are leaving it to President Donald Trump to decide whether the US should directly strike Iran to aid Israel, while Democrats warned against escalating the conflict.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and several top lawmakers in charge of the military’s budget deferred to Trump yesterday. Vice President JD Vance met with Senate Republicans, and National Security Director Tulsi Gabbard briefed members of the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee in a closed meeting.
