Republicans might soon need Democrats’ help

Republicans’ split-screen approach to governing is raising the risks of a government shutdown next month.

The Trump administration and Republicans in Congress are simply steamrolling Democrats. They’re pushing for one or two sweeping GOP-only reconciliation bills, while President Donald Trump defies laws and Elon Musk blocks visibility into his hurricane-force shredding of parts of the federal government.

Democratic members of Congress couldn’t even walk into USAID offices, and have resorted to rallies outside buildings and all-night speeches in the Senate to try to make their case.
