Republican senators released a bill Sunday to fund the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects, part of a multi-step proposal to end the 40-day government shutdown.

The Senate Appropriations Committee published a Military Construction-VA funding bill for fiscal 2026, which lawmakers aim to package with two other spending bills, covering Agriculture-FDA and Legislative Branch programs. The three-bill package has been the subject of weeks-long talks between House and Senate lawmakers and would be subject to a final vote by both chambers.
