Republicans Seek to Scuttle New Biden Rule on Migrant Children

Dozens of Republican senators are trying to take down a Biden administration rule that overhauls how the US manages unaccompanied migrant children.

Sens. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Ron Johnson (Wis.) launched the effort Wednesday with a Congressional Review Act resolution that seeks to invalidate the Department of Health and Human Services’ regulation, which they say puts children at risk. More than 40 other Republicans, plus newly independent Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), joined the effort.

The maneuver marks the latest conservative pushback on President Joe Biden’s immigration policies, which are a serious political vulnerability for him ahead of the November election. ...
