Republicans splinter over Trump’s tariffs

President Donald Trump’s sweeping new tariffs shook some Republicans along with the global economy.

Hours after Trump’s show of economic force in the Rose Garden, four Republicans joined with Senate Democrats in a 51-48 vote to advance a resolution to pull back the president’s emergency power to impose levies on Canadian goods, handing Democrats a rare (if partial) win in Congress.
