President Donald Trump and Republicans will take the brunt of the blame if the government shuts down in the coming days, a former top adviser to former President Joe Biden said.
“The public would hold Republicans responsible for a shutdown,” Neera Tanden, now president and CEO of the Democratic-aligned think tank Center for American Progress, said at an exclusive Bloomberg Government roundtable on Tuesday morning.
Tanden said “people generally hold the president accountable for whether the government is running or not,” adding that was “our presumption when we were in negotiations with Republicans” during her tenure in the White House. ...
