House Republicans adopted the Senate’s budget plan today, paving the way for a sweeping domestic policy bill cutting trillions of dollars, extending President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, and hiking the debt ceiling by up to $5 trillion.
Now comes the hard part: assembling the actual legislation.
With both the House and Senate backing the same budget resolution, committees of jurisdiction can now formally begin debating policy and writing measures to permanently renew Trump’s tax cuts and boost spending toward key GOP priorities without the threat of a Senate filibuster.
