Schumer Seeks $32 Billion in Federal Funds to Boost AI Research

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called for the government to spend at least $32 billion in coming years for artificial intelligence research and development to boost innovation and maintain the US lead over China.

That dollar figure is “probably a floor,” Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday evening after he emerged from the second closed-door Senate AI forum with technology leaders and advocates.
