Schweikert’s Arizona Governor Bid Opens Up Swing District (1)

Rep. David Schweikert will run for the Arizona governorship in 2026 rather than for re-election to Congress, leaving open a competitive district that could help determine control of the closely divided House.

Schweikert (R), a member of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, said Tuesday he’d join the field of Republican candidates seeking to unseat Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs. Schweikert’s leading rivals will be Rep. Andy Biggs and businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson.
