Five prominent obesity scientists, including the editor-in-chief of a leading diabetes journal and researchers who work with major pharmaceutical companies, were kicked out of the industry’s biggest annual meeting while handing out an editorial criticizing the Trump administration’s health policies.

Those escorted out of the American Diabetes Association’s annual meeting in New Orleans on Friday included Justin Ryder, a pediatric obesity researcher at Northwestern Medicine, and Steven Kahn, the editor-in-chief of Diabetes Care, the journal where the editorial was published.
