Two nominees for key US Agriculture Department roles advanced out of the Senate Agriculture Committee in Wednesday votes.
- Panel unanimously advanced Luke Lindberg to lead USDA’s trade and foreign agricultural affairs. Lindberg is currently South Dakota Trade’s CEO and a senior fellow at America First Policy Institute think tank, founded by Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins
- Devon Westhill also advanced for agency’s assistant secretary for civil rights in party-line 12-11 vote. Westhill was previously USDA’s top civil rights official in the first Trump administration
- Both nominations head to full Senate for confirmation
