Senate Agriculture Switches Up Nutrition Subcommittee Leadership

Half of Senate Agriculture subcommittee heads are new for the 119th Congress and will handle policy touching nutrition, rural development, and crop commodities.

The new and returning leadership “will play an important role as we craft the farm bill,” panel Chair John Boozman (R-Ark.) and ranking member Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said Wednesday in a joint statement announcing the changes.

The subcommittee handling issues including nutrition and research was the only to get entirely new supervision, with Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) selected as chair and Ben Ray Lujan (D-N.M.) as ranking member.
