Senate AI Policy Blueprint Triggers Concern, Urgency for Rules

A new bipartisan framework to address artificial intelligence has renewed calls from civil society groups to regulate the technology over heightened fears that industry is playing an outsized role in Capitol Hill policymaking.

“The AI policy roadmap sets us on the wrong path,” Cody Venzke, senior policy counsel at the American Civil Liberties Union, said in a statement, adding that it “gives little acknowledgment of the risks to civil rights and civil liberties posed by AI.”
