Senate Approves ICE, Border Patrol Outline After Marathon Vote

Senators approved a multi-billion-dollar blueprint for long-term immigration enforcement funding, advancing Republicans’ agenda to end the months-long shutdown at the Department of Homeland Security.

Senators voted 50-48 early Thursday morning to adopt a budget resolution (S.Con.Res.33) aimed at mandating about $70 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol. Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Rand Paul (Ky.) joined with Democrats to oppose the measure.
