Senate Budget Plan Seeks Far Lower Spending Cuts Than House

Senate Republicans are set to vote soon on a newly-released budget blueprint that scales back deep spending cuts favored by the House, extends President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and seeks a debt ceiling hike of up to $5 trillion.

Senate Republicans are expected to take up the budget resolution later this week and potentially vote on adoption over the weekend. The House could then consider the plan next week and adopt it ahead of a two-week spring recess slated to begin April 14.
