Senate Deadlocks on Homeland Security Bill Ahead of Trump Speech

Senate Democrats again blocked a motion to advance a House-passed bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security Tuesday as the partial shutdown drags into another week.

The Senate voted 50-45 to fund DHS after the lapse began about 11 days ago, impacting agencies such as the Transportation Security Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Coast Guard. The motion required 60 votes to advance, and Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was the only Democrat to vote in favor.
