A number of Senate Democrats are using the August recess to raise their own profiles and help chart a course to recover from election losses in hopes of regaining the majority.

They are holding court at public forums this month in their states and others, pitching a vision for moving forward as the party faces an inflection point with voters who have expressed frustration over Democrats’ strategy and current leadership, including Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).
