Commerce-Justice-Science Funding Falls By the Wayside
Senators won’t be able to pass a bill to fund the Commerce and Justice Departments before the August recess — and likely not before the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30.
An attempt to include the Senate’s fiscal 2026 Commerce-Justice-Science appropriations bill in a broader funding package failed last night, threatening progress on spending negotiations as senators prepare to leave Washington. A long-running fight over the next location of the FBI headquarters divided the Senate and halted progress on what would have been a four-bill package.
