Senate GOP Blocks Forcing El Salvador Deportation Transparency

Senate Republicans defended one of the Trump administration’s most controversial immigration strategies Thursday as the chamber voted against providing more transparency around deportations to El Salvador.

The Senate voted 45-50 to reject advancing a Democrat-led resolution (S. Res. 195) requiring a report to Congress on the administration’s compliance with court orders and El Salvador’s human rights record.
