House Plans Thursday Vote on Three-Week Spy Powers Extension (1)

The House will vote on a short-term reauthorization of a key US spy powers tool Thursday morning ahead of a Friday expiration, seeking to extend negotiations another three weeks after talks stalled.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters Wednesday that the ball was in the Senate’s court to extend Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. But a short time later, he announced the House would put an extension until July 2 on the floor.
