Senate GOP Goes Nuclear on Rule Change in Push to Speed Nominees

Senate Republicans took a major procedural step Thursday toward a vote next week to change chamber rules to speed the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s nominees.

After hours of bipartisan negotiations to find agreement to revamp the nomination process fell apart, Senate Republicans moved forward with a series of votes to go around the filibuster in advancing a Republican proposal that would allow nominees to be grouped together for a confirmation vote.
