Republicans are moving ahead with plans for more quickly advancing President Donald Trump’s executive nominees by denying Democrats the chance to slow-walk votes on the picks.
Frustrated with Democrats for delaying floor action, Republicans took an initial step Monday to begin changing the Senate’s rules to allow nominees to be confirmed in bulk instead of voting on each nomination. Republicans are planning to rewrite the chamber’s rules with a simple majority, a partisan approach known as going nuclear and one Democrats are blasting as destroying the chamber’s traditions.
